WSCA AGM – Tuesday 12th February, 6.30pm – Community Room at Waitrose, Worcester

Calling all architectural professionals living or working in Worcestershire! Please come along to our Worcestershire Society of Chartered Architects AGM on Tuesday 12th February at 6.30pm in the Community Room at Waitrose, Worcester. The agenda is available here. If you need a lift from the train station, please let us know. There is free parking available in the main store car park. The room is in the far corner of the store. Refreshments will be available.

During 2018 we were pleased to hold the second year of the Worcestershire Architecture Awards. We were delighted to have over 35 entries, a slight increase on last year. Press coverage was good and the exhibition has already been displayed in 3 locations, with more planned next year including a provisional booking at the Hive. We hope the awards will continue to run as it’s a great way to raise the profile of what we do in the county.

This year are appealing for some volunteers to take small roles to help with running the society and in particular the awards. We now have an established format, and the dates are provisionally scheduled for the year, so we know what is involved and when. (The draft schedule is available here for your information.) We are just asking for a few people to offer to give up to two days of their time over the course of the whole year to manage a small part.

We have also prepared a document that helps illustrate our thoughts regarding the roles, but we will explain these in more detail at the AGM. The summary demonstrates that jobs will be varied, small and manageable, and hopefully there might be something there to interest you. They are open to discussion and amendment if there is something you’re particularly interested in in one of the roles, or likewise would like to exclude.

Most importantly you don’t have to be a chartered member to get involved! It’s good experience for Part 1s and 2s as you will get to broaden your experience, and can be logged as ‘general’ CPD hours. Please do give this some thought and spread the word – it’d be great to see a good turn out to guarantee the future of the society. It would be a shame for the awards to come to an end after only 2 years when it feels to be gaining some momentum.

In the meantime, thanks to everyone who came along to our Christmas Social at Bolero. It’s always great to catch up with people, the sharing platters there are really tasty, and we had a fun evening.
