About the Awards
Following the continuing success of the Worcestershire Architecture Awards, the Worcestershire Society of Chartered Architects are excited to announce the call for entries to the 2026 Awards.
The Worcestershire Architecture Awards recognise inspiring new architecture across the county and the work of Worcestershire architects.
Previous awards successfully engaged the wider community and promoted local architects with public exhibitions of entries at Worcester Guildhall, Bewdley Museum, Henry Sandon Hall, The Hive, and St Helens Church.
The awards received publicity in the local press through collaboration with the Worcester News who organised online voting for the People’s Choice Award.

Entries are invited from 22 June 2026 and will be accepted until 5pm on Friday 31st July 2026.
The Worcestershire Society of Chartered Architects is the local branch of the RIBA. The Awards and activities of the branch are organised by local RIBA members volunteering their time and energy. If you would like to be involved we would be pleased for you to join us, get in touch.
Exhibition & Awards
Entries will be exhibited at public exhibition – at The Arches gallery on Saturday 19th September 2026.
Awards will be presented at the WSCA Autumn Social on the evening of Thursday, 10 September 2026.
Entries will be assessed on the extent to which they demonstrate, in the opinion of the judges, fitness for purpose, elegance and imagination of the design, and the contribution made to the built environment or landscape setting.
Three judges will be appointed by the Worcestershire Society of Chartered Architects. The judges will include a representative of the local community, a practising architect, a professional involved in architectural education, and/ or others at the invitation and discretion of the Chair of the Worcestershire Society of Chartered Architects.

Stephanie Preece – Regional Editor, Worcester News part of Newsquest, West Midlands
Project Categories
Entries are invited to the following six categories.
1 Built Private House
2 Unbuilt Private House
3 Built Project in Worcestershire
4 Unbuilt Project in Worcestershire
5 Built Project outside Worcestershire
6 Unbuilt Project outside Worcestershire
In addition, awards may be made for excellent contribution to Conservation and Sustainability where entrants express a desire to be considered for these awards
Projects submitted by students may be considered for a Student award.
All eligible submissions will be considered for the People’s Choice Award shortlist. The shortlist will be decided by the Worcester News and award selected by their readership.
Submissions are welcomed from students studying architecture on a RIBA validated course and registered as an RIBA Student Member.
Criteria
Projects located in Worcestershire (1-4) can be submitted by an eligible entrant based anywhere in the UK. Projects outside Worcestershire (1-2, 5-6) must be submitted by an eligible entrant based in Worcestershire.
Individual residential projects may only be submitted to categories 1 and 2. Projects in the private house categories may be located anywhere, those which are outside Worcestershire must be by an eligible entrant based in Worcestershire.
To be considered for the Conservation Award or Sustainability Award, entrants must submit a supporting statement to explain the relevant design aspects, together with supporting contextual information.
Worcestershire will be defined by the boundaries of the local planning authorities within the county.
Submissions in the built categories (1, 3 & 5) must have reached Practical Completion between 1 May 2021 and 30 April 2026.
Submissions in the unbuilt categories (2, 4 & 6) must not be commencing on site before the end of 31 August 2026.
RIBA student members based in Worcestershire are encouraged to enter any of their studio projects for one of the unbuilt project categories (4 & 6). Students based outside Worcestershire are welcome any studio projects which are for a site located in Worcestershire (category 4).
Eligibility
Entrants must be either a UK registered architect; an architectural practice at least one of whose principals is a registered architect; or a student studying architecture and registered as a RIBA Student Member.
There is no limit to the number of project submissions each entrant can make. Projects may only be submitted to one project category. Submissions from previous years cannot be submitted again in the same category.
Entry Fee
As a result of the Worcestershire Society of Chartered Architects having been able to secure RIBA Local Initiative Funding, we are pleased to be able offer free entry to RIBA Chartered Practices, RIBA Chartered Members, Fellows, Associates, and Student members.
Each submission by other eligible entrants will incur a fee of £35. An invoice will be sent by the WSCA once a submission is received. Prompt payment is required and submissions with outstanding invoices will not be considered or exhibited. Non-RIBA entrants who made a submission to the Awards previously are entitled to one half price (£17.50) submission.
Submission Requirements
All entries must be submitted electronically using the Worcestershire Society of Chartered Architects website – click here to enter the awards.
Entries are invited from 22nd June 2026 and will be accepted until 5pm on Friday 31st July 2026.
Each project submitted must be accompanied by a completed entry form and include:
– A1 landscape project presentation board in .pdf format.
– One key image of the project in .jpg format.
Digital files should be at 300dpi resolution for high quality print. No individual file should exceed 20MB.
The content of the project presentation board is at the discretion of entrants, however, to assist the judges and for exhibition, should include:
– The name of the entrant.
– Project name and location.
– A description of the project to explain the brief, context, constraints and architectural design response (200-500 words).
– A site plan and other context information.
Entries for the Conservation Award should include a statement on the project’s conservation setting, the heritage value of the building, and the response to it.
Entries for the Sustainability Award should include a statement explaining how the project is sustainable. This may include design energy in use, energy and carbon in use performance data, embodied carbon, materials, water usage, and biodiversity, this is not an exhaustive list.
Entries are not made anonymously as it is intended that the Awards scheme provides publicity for the entrant. Practice logo and contact information may be displayed on the presentation board.
Text should be in Helvetica or similar sans-serif font, and be of sufficient size to be read in an exhibition setting.
